President of the North-East Federal University Evgenia Mikhailova participated in the first session of meeting within the Northern Sustainable Development Forum. In her speech, she mentioned that the main challenge for all the northern territories is attracting human resources.
The Principal researcher of the Resource Economy Center Valery Kryukov offers to adapt countries’ successful experience to address the challenges of the northern regions.
“I want to focus on the problem of complexity. The concept of sustainability is multifaceted - ecology, economics, maintaining the standard of living. The question is how to move towards complexity in the new economic conditions», he said.
“Our task is to inform the population about what is happening in the Arctic. We compare the sustainable development of the Arctic regions of our country, identify steadily developing regions”, the coordinator of the Arctic Development Project Office (PORA) Alexander Vorotnikov commented
Participants discussed issues of social and economic development of the Northern regions and the Arctic. In particular, the guests got acquainted with the work of PORA and the grant program.
