«Scientists have to work together, because if we learn something, we should know how to manage different natural systems together. It's a complicated situation right now, and the most important thing we can do is to realize that once this is over, once the conflict is resolved, we can start working closely together again. We have to keep that in mind all the time».

ORU Fogar's Regional Good Practices Database

has been expanded with the five practices awarded by the III Award organized in collaboration with the UNDP Art, and the result of which was made public during the closing of the Rabat Assembly.

The Database is an initiative by ORU Fogar that began in 2016 with the support of the UNDP Art. The aim was - and continues to be - to identify and make visible the good practices of regional governments around the world, as well as to position the concept of good practices as an effective tool in public administration. ORU Fogar's Database could have been enlarged by hundreds of successful practices, from all of the intermediate governments around the world. However, a mechanism was chosen to select practices of excellence, based on a contest in which a jury made up of 10 experts annually chose the 5 best practices submitted.

Thanks to this mechanism, the database already has 15 practices. As specified in the terms of reference, they must all have "produced outstanding results in public management". These practices must also be replicable in other organizations to improve their effectiveness, efficiency and innovation for the benefit of the common good.

The five winners of the third edition of this contest have now joined the Regional Best Practices Database, i.e. the projects of the Colombian departments of Antioquia and Nariño, the Government of Trentino, Italy, the Provincial Council of Barcelona and the Government of Catalonia.

The project of the Government of Antioquia is the so-called "Mana, Public Policy of Food Security and Nutritional". The citizen participation project "GANA Open Government" was submmitted by the Government of Nariño. "Io, Trentino" is the project presented by the Trentino Government. "Shock plan against poverty" is the name of the project submitted by the Barcelona Provincial Council. "A transition towards a clean, participative and decentralised energy model that puts the citizen at its centre" is the title of the project of the Catalan Energy Institute of the Government of Catalonia.
