International Youth Conference «The Arctic. The Edge of the Future»
The International Youth Conference «The Arctic. The Edge of the Future» was held in Salekhard from 10 to 12 May 2023, where such topics as youth diplomacy, youth entrepreneurship and young scientists were discussed.
The opening ceremony of the conference was addressed by Deputy Governor, Director of the Department of External Relations of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Alexander Mazharov, Ambassador-at-Large, Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials in the Arctic Council Nikolay Korchunov, Special Envoy for Youth Policy of the Russian Presidency Mikhail Uksusov, Executive Director of the Northern Forum Vladimir Vasiliev.
The results of the Russian Presidency of the Arctic Council and prospects for cooperation in the Arctic were summarized.
Vladimir Vasiliev presented the activities of the Northern Forum and noted the increasing attention to the involvement of youth around the world and the development of youth associations in Russia. He also proposed holding an annual Arctic Youth Summit in order to create a coordinated system of interaction of all associations.
Savina Alekseeva, Chairman of the Youth Northern Forum, organized sections on youth entrepreneurship at the conference.

On May 12, 2023, Vladimir Vasilyev together with Anatoly Zhzhzhikov, the head of the project on digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, and Pavel Lanovoy, an expert advisor of YaNAO’s Department of External Relations, visited Mikhail Okotetto’s, Chairman of the Council of Tribal Communities of YaNAO, family.

Sino-Russian Cooperation Meeting on Transferring of Mercury by Migratory Birds
On May 15, 2023, a meeting was held in Beijing, China on Sino-Russian cooperation on the transferring of mercury by migratory birds.
The Academy of the Northern Forum for many years has been promoting the conduct of air registers of water birds, research of bird populations in the tundra zone of Yakutia and Chukotka, with the participation of specialists from the USA, China, the UK and other countries until 2020. Taking into account this experience, the Northern Forum and the Academy of the Northern Forum, represented by Vladimir Vasilyev, were invited to discuss promising projects.
The result of the joint work was the protocol of the meeting, giving a start to a new project between Russia and China.

Vladimir Vasilyev meets Professor Guo Peitzing
On May 19, 2023, Vladimir Vasilyev met in Beijing, China with the Ocean University of China’ Professor Guo Payzing, who was elected as the Northern Forum Goodwill Ambassador in 2022.
The meeting discussed the possibility of Shandong Province, China, joining the Northern Forum.

Northern Forum and Mongolia: cooperation perspectives
From 20 to 26 May, 2023, the Secretariat of the Northern Forum held a number of events in Mongolia.
On May 21-22, 2023, the delegation of the Northern Forum held events in the sum (administrative division) Harhorin, aimag (administrative division) Uvurkhangai: the round table «Northern Forum and Mongolia: prospects of cooperation», the joint run with the Northern Forum Goodwill Ambassador, ultramarathoner Paolo Venturini «Make the planet clean», the planting trees within the project «Friendship Garden». The delegates also had meetings with the Administration of the sum Harkhorin and the Administration of the Aimag Uvurkhangai. Also the separate meeting was held with the participation of the the representatives of Kharkhorin schools and schools from Yakutia, Khanty-Mansiysk, and Tomsk.
On May 22, 2023, the Northern Forum and Mongolia planted a sakura as part of the project «Garden of Friendship» in the center of the sum Harhorin. As part of the event, a live teleconference was organized with the opening ceremony of the XX International Environmental Action «Save and Preserve» in Khanty-Mansiysk. Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra Natalia Komarova warmly welcomed the rally participants. Governor of the sum Harhorin Gandboldin Odgarel passed the baton to Italy. Next year, 2024, the project will be implemented in the region of Ambruzzi, Italy.
On May 24, 2023, a meeting with Alexey Evsikov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mongolia, was held.
The events of the Northern Forum in Mongolia have been highly appreciated. This was stated by the Head of the Administration of the President of Mongolia, Yangug Sodbaatar, who invited the delegation of the Northern Forum to exchange views on the prospects for cooperation. The Foreign Policy Advisor of the President of Mongolia Odbayar Erdenetsogt and Head of the Department for Neighboring Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Radnabasaar Altangerel also attended the meeting.
With the assistance of the Special Representative of the President of Mongolia for Youth Policy, Ms Munhmaral Tumensuren, Vladimir Vasilyev and Anton Vasilyev were interviewed for Mongolian national television.
The visit to Mongolia of the Northern Forum was made possible by the Northern Forum Goodwill Ambassador Amardjargal Baljinnyam.
The delegation of the Northern Forum in Mongolia included: regional coordinators from Yakutia Gavril Kirillin and from the Nenets Autonomous District Sergey Kungurtsev, Goodwill Ambassadors Anton Vasilyev and Paolo Venturini, Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Leonid Gelibterman, delegations of schools from the regions of Russia - Yakutia, HMAO and Tomsk region.

Children’s Tochka Kipeniya - reading center
On May 25, 2023, in Yakutsk on the eve of the Day of Libraries the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of the branch of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) «DTK - Reading Center» was held.
Daryana Maksimova took part in the meeting and offered to cooperate on the project «Children of the Arctic».
