News from a member of the Northern Forum Schools Association: On March 4, within the framework of the internationa cultural and ecological project «Friendship - Municipal Classical Gymnasium №8 and KISC», an introductory session with students and teachers of Kitengela International School, Nairobi, Kenya, was held.
During the meeting speakers Gorokhova Yana ( 6th grade), Ivanova Ariana (8th grade), Gurieva Kristina (6th grade) told about the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), the city of Yakutsk, the gymnasium and the Sister ecosystems project. Popova Sofya (7th grade), Monastyrev Artyom (7th grade), Vasiliev Vadim (6th grade), Yakovleva Alisa (6th grade), Albu Ivan (6th grade) and Naina Yakovleva (6th grade) recited poems about their native land in Yakut, Russian and English. The partners from Kenya prepared reports on their school and city.
The next stage of the project will be a creative task «Challenge - 21 days», where they will work in pairs: «Municipal Classical Gymnasium №8 pupil - KISC pupil», where the project participants will choose a theme for the challenge and for 21 days they will implement cultural and environmental projects, read interesting literature together, learn languages and tell each other about their country, traditions and customs, their interests, and then tell about the results of the joint project.
Director of Kitengela International School Eddie Benson Omondi visited Yakutsk Gymnasium in September 2024 during the 5th Northern Sustainable Development Forum within the framework of the Sister-ecosystems project run by the Andrey Melnichenko Foundation, met with our schoolchildren and was impressed by the friendliness of the Yakutians.
