On March 20, 2024, the acceptance of applications for participation in the special nomination of the International Organization of Northern Regions “Northern Forum” during the XXII International Festival of Cinematic Debuts “Spirit of Fire” ended.

Filmmakers from the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and the Republic of Khakassia took part in the special nomination.

Margarita Lyange (President of the interregional public organization of journalists covering interethnic topics “Guild of Interethnic Journalism”), Oleg Stepchenko (Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Business Center for Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Independent States), Sergey Aprelsky (actor, member of the Guild of Cinema Actors of Russia, member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia).

The results will be summed up on March 26, 2024 and the winner of the special nomination of the Northern Forum will be determined. Ethnomusicians, composers, directors, producers, winners of all-Russian and international television competitions, authors of weekly releases on regional television channels in the language of indigenous peoples of the North, honored cultural figures took part in the competition for the special prize “For the preservation of the traditions and heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic and the North” and a cash prize of 100,000 rubles.

Considering the chairmanship of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra in the Northern Forum for 2023-2025, the winner will be announced at the opening ceremony of the XXII International Film Debut Festival “Spirit of Fire”.
