Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation - representative of the executive branch of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agro-Food Policy and Nature Management and former head of the republic Egor Borisov has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador of the Northern Forum.

‘Egor Borisov, being the Head of Yakutia, took over the chairmanship of the Northern Forum at the most challenging period for the organisation in 2011, when there was a question of “To be or not to be”. Yakutia headed the organisation in 2011-2015 and during this period the Secretariat was relocated to Yakutsk, all financial problems were solved, an agreement was reached on the return of Alaska and Lapland, support was received from the Russian Foreign Ministry, and significant events were held that reinforced the Northern Forum.
