All Arctic countries have agreed on new guidelines that allow the Arctic Council's working groups to resume their activities.
Recently, observers of the Arctic Council, including the Northern Forum, received an appeal from the Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials (SAOC), Morten Høglund, that all countries and permanent participants supported the guidelines for the gradual restoration of the activities of working groups and the involvement of observers in project activities whenever possible.
The instructions will remain in effect until the end of the year and may be revised or expanded by decision of senior officials in consultation with regular participants. At the same time, any meetings of the Arctic Council will be on pause for now.
We hope that it will be possible to further develop the projects Children of the Arctic, Digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic, to which the Northern Forum provided active assistance for approval at the level of the Arctic Council.
