A round table “Northern supply and economic security issues” will be held on 30th January in Arkhangelsk in the framework of the Safe Arctic 2025 business program. The organizers of the round table are the Public Council of the Arctic Zone of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, the Public Council of the Rosatom State Corporation, the Saint Petersburg University of State Fire Service of EMERCOM of Russia. The event will be held with the organizational support of the Events & Partners LLC. 

 

The effectiveness of the northern supply affects the economic activity of remote territories, the implementation of production and industrial tasks, and, most importantly, the life of people living in extreme natural and climatic conditions. The northern delivery is associated with the emergency situations risks that can lead to the disruption of the vital goods and resources delivery and, as a result, to a threat to the life and health of the population. Therefore, it is impossible to overestimate the importance of the northern supply and its impact on the economic security of the Russian Arctic zone.

 

During the round table, the participants will discuss issues of legislative support for northern supply, development of emergency rescue infrastructure on cargo delivery routes, review the existing systems for natural and climatic conditions forecasting and analyzing, and also cover such areas of the Arctic agenda as interregional cooperation, the role of indigenous peoples in ensuring food security, small-scale nuclear energy for the Arctic and others.

 

Among the speakers: Vladimir Vasilyev, Executive Director of the Northern Forum, Grigoriy Dyukarev, Commissioner for the Rights of Indigenous Minorities in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Olga Epifanova, Member of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, Dmitry Lepchikov, Minister for Civil Defense and Life Safety of the Population of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutiya), Oleg Muratov, member of the Public Council of the Rosatom State Corporation, Member of the Central Board of the Nuclear Society of Russia, Head of the Radiation Technology Department of TVELL LLC, academician of MANEB.

The Northern Youth Forum (NYF) is a youth wing of the Northern Forum, consisting of representatives of young people from the age of 16 to 40 years.

Mission of the NYF is to strengthen the spirit of trust and cooperation between young representatives of Northern regions and countries at the stage of personal and professional views’ formation.

Goal of the NYF is to promote the interests and views of young people in solving the problems facing the Northern Forum by using the potential of international youth cooperation.
