The annual international Arctic summer school of the North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) will be held online for the first time because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Many international events this year were canceled or held online due to a serious epidemiological situation. Unfortunately, our school was no exception - Arctic summer school will be held online from July 27 to August 7, 2020. Lectures will be held via video conferencing using Zoom platform. All lectures will be in English, or with simultaneous translation from Russian into English” - the international department said.
NEFU Arctic Summer School is organised for international students. The program consists of lectures on Arctic and is devoted to the following thematic modules: Development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, Degional development of the Arctic, Ethnography and Culture of Indigenous peoples, Climate Change. The lecturers are professors of NEFU, partner universities, as well as employees of government agencies, the source says.
In 2019, participants from Korea, France, Germany, the USA and Japan attended the Arctic Summer School in Yakutsk.
