The application campaign of the Explore Yamal international volunteer project, which will take place in August 2021 in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, continues.

The project is aimed at developing the volunteer movement and intercultural dialogue of youth, popularizing traditions, customs and understanding the philosophy of northern peoples, strengthening humanitarian ties of the Arctic regions of Russia, increasing the attractiveness of the Yamal Arctic as a territory open to development and new ideas.

The main activities of the project volunteers:
- "Medical assistant" - conducting masterclasses on training the indigenous peoples of the North in the provision of first aid;
- "Chum-improvement" - providing assistance to nomads in everyday life, as well as participating in the vaccination of deer in camps.
Young people from 18 to 45 years old who have citizenship of the countries participating in the Arctic Council are invited to participate: Canada, USA, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, as well as young people fluent in English from Yamalo-Nenets, Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Districts, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk Regions, Republics of Karelia, Komi and Sakha (Yakutia).
Those wishing to join the project from the regions of Russia must fill out a questionnaire at the link https://clck.ru/TuRQd, and for foreign residents at the link https://clck.ru/TuRUX. Then attach the necessary documents, pass an online interview and testing based on the results of the training.
The main selection criterion is the experience of volunteer, project or social activities in one of the areas: media, pedagogy, medicine, veterinary medicine and culture. The application campaign will run until May 15, 2021.
“The Explore Yamal project will be implemented as part of the Arctic Volunteer Center's regional volunteer mobility program. The mobility program is an exchange of experience and the opportunity to gain new practices, as well as scaling up the experience gained in the territories of volunteers' residence” said Sergei Khodakov, Deputy Director of the Arctic Volunteer Center.
Successfully selected applicants will help reindeer herders and their families and train tundra residents in first aid. They will also get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North, learn the necessary skills for staying in the tundra and have the opportunity to explore Yamal in a new way.
