On 3-4 December, the Strategic Session ‘Northern Delivery: Reliable, Fast, Affordable’ was held at the National Centre ‘Russia’.
Nadezhda Filippova, head of the Northern Forum's working group on transport and logistics, professor of Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI), and Sergei Neustroev, First Deputy Minister for Arctic Development and Northern Peoples' Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), one of the initiators of the group.
Undoubtedly, the basis of the northern delivery is logistics, the development of the supporting logistics infrastructure, the development of the transport network, and the introduction of new types of transport. Group leader Nadezhda Filippova drew the participants' attention to the necessity to expand the use of weather-dependent land transport - wheeled all-terrain vehicles, which are not inferior to helicopter transport in terms of transport efficiency, and in many cases surpass it. At the same time, all-terrain vehicles should have a carrying capacity not less than that of the MI-8 helicopter and a cruising speed of about 50 kilometres per hour on a solid support surface.
We are glad that the new working group on transport and logistics has begun active work at both the regional and federal levels.
It should be noted that the next Strategic Session on Northern Delivery will be held in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
