On May 19, the first business and scientific forum "Northern Forum - China: cooperation in innovative technologies for the protection and development of the arctic" was held in Harbin, at the site of XY Group.
The Northern Forum event in China was proposed by the Northern Forum Goodwill Ambassador, Executive Director of the Arctic Research Center at the Ocean University of China Professor Guo Peiqing.
The idea was supported by the President of Xuan Yuan Group Mr. Xue Xingfa, who suggested to investigate the possibility of organizing the first of such forums at the Group’s venue in Harbin.
On May 19, the first business and scientific forum "Northern Forum - China: cooperation in innovative technologies for the protection and development of the arctic" was held in Harbin, at the site of XY Group.
Thus, The Northern Forum launched a series of annual Northern Forum events in the Asian countries, held as The Northern Forum - China, The Northern Forum – Japan, etc., which would also convene the stakeholders from other countries, interested in constructive cooperation for the sustainable development, business, scientific, educational and cultural exchange, and establishing mutually advantageous relations in all aspects.
The forum was moderated by Vladimir Vasiliev, Executive Director of The Northern Forum, and Jiao Jian, deputy general director of XY Group.
The Russian delegation included representatives of executive and legislative authorities of the northern, north-western and north-eastern regions of the Federation: the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, Kamchatka Krai, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Murmansk Oblast, Tomsk Oblast; the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North, The Northern Forum, scientists and teachers of the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov, the Siberian Federal University.
The Chinese side is represented by the business community, government officials, scientists and university professors.
The event was also attended by representatives of such countries as Iceland, Japan, South Korea and others.
The event emphasized climate change, preservation and use of permafrost, and strengthening and developing cooperation in the Arctic.
The event was organized by The Northern Forum and Xuan Yuan International Corporation XY Group.
