The highest level of alert means approach of natural disaster emergency with the power which happens not more often than once in ten years, and it can cause human losses.

Japan Meteorological Agency declared the highest level of alert in one part of Hokkaido in northern Japan due to heavy rains.

The Pacific coast of the island declared the state of emergency in Iburi.

A few hours ago meteorologists declared the highest level of alert in the neighboring areas of Ishikari, where Sapporo, the central city of prefecture of Hokkaido, is located. It received more than 400 mm of precipitation during the day, and a half of this – 200 mm – were received in the last five hours.

At the emergency press conference the representative of meteo-office reported: “The Island is struck by a very powerful storm. There were dangerous risks of possible landslides and floods”.

The highest level of alert means approach of natural disaster emergency with the power which happens not more often than once in ten years, and it can cause human losses. In particular, it significantly increases a danger of high waters, avalanching and floods of lowlands.

Meteorologists recommend the population to follow instructions of administrations on evacuation, but thus also to estimate a situation and to keep indoors in case if it institutes a danger.
