Scientists and students of the Siberian Federal University have proposed an infrastructure project for the polar villages, which is designed to ease the daily life on the conditions of extremely low temperatures and the long polar nights. The project is planned to be tested in the small village of Tuhard in the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenetsky District of the Krasnoyarsk Krai. The implementation of the project implies the creation of an autonomous building system with closed warm passages between buildings, the newest water purification system, as well as cafes and gyms on the first floor.
Also, students of the Siberian Federal University are developing design solutions for housing renovation in Norilsk, the northernmost city in the world with a population of more than 150 thousand people. The development involves the creation of low-rise residential buildings made of larch and pine. The building is planned to be constructed on the foundations of the dismantled buildings. It is expected the apartments will go to industry workers, geologists, members of scientific expeditions, military personnel and their families.
