OCTOBER 30 – 31, 2017, Khanty-Mansiysk is hosting the II International Research Conference “Siberian Ugric People in a Necklace of Subarctic Cultures: Common and Unique”. The event will be attended by international researchers from Hungary, Finland, United States, as well as experts in Siberian ethnography, history, museology, and tourism from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Ekaterinburg, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
The conference is consists of three sessions:
- Ethnogenesis, ethnic history and cultural genesis of the Ob-Ugric peoples in the context of development of Northern Siberian civilizations
- History and culture of the Ob-Ugric peoples as a spiritual, tourism, and socio-cultural resources of the region
- Bear in the cultures of the indigenous peoples of the North: origins, genesis, current status
During the conference, the Northern Forum and the Department of Culture of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra will sign an agreement on cooperation to strengthen interregional and international cooperation in a sphere of culture and art.
