The II International Forum on Composites “Key Trends in Composites: Science and Technology” was held оn November 20-21, 2019, organized by the Intersectoral Engineering Center “Composites of Russia”, Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman, where a specialist of the Northern Forum, a lecturer at the North-Eastern Federal University, Timofeeva Ekaterina had participated.

This annual event has become a leading platform for dialogue between famous and young scientists and specialists in the composite materials industry with the leaders of production companies, government, investors and the media.

This year, the forum was attended by the governance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Public Education, the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow. Representatives of state corporations Rosatom, Rostec, Rushydro, Rusnano, Roskosmos, as well as PJSC UAC, WIT ERA and others were invited as key speakers.

“Now colossal work is underway at all levels, aimed at preserving and developing the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, because nowadays everyone understands the strategic importance of this region for our country. When it comes to the development of Arctic energy resources, new challenges arise for the scientific community and industrial companies, and an integrated approach cannot be avoided. One of the tasks is the transition to new materials with unique preset properties that can work reliably under the harsh conditions of the Arctic. At the opening of the Forum, plenary participants, leading scientists, noted the importance of establishing a new generation of scientists who will offer new approaches to solving this issue. It is very important for a young researcher to meet on the same site with leading scientists in their field, communicate openly, ask questions, see new areas of research, and meet like-minded people. And such narrowly focused international platforms as “Key Trends in Composites: Science and Technology” provide such an opportunity. The organizing team of the IEC "Composites of Russia" MSTU named after Bauman did a great job and brought together more than 3,000 participants on one site. The program of the Forum was rich and informative.” - Ekaterina shares her impressions.
